The Hope Of The Years
This is a useful piece in that it is written for SATB choir plus a Children’s Choir, with piano. It is a retelling of the story of the Three Kings, and at ten minute’s duration, makes a good contribution to any Christmas Concert. There are no solos. The central section is Guy’s most popular carol, As Midnight Rings (formerly entitled The Holy Hand) (published separately by Recital Music: http://www.recitalmusic.net/spweb/details.php?catno=RMS087)
The final section is an energetic round. The children’s choir have plenty to do, though if one is not available you can cover their part by splitting the main choir sopranos.
It was originally performed by the Massed choirs of ‘Surrey Sings’, but is more usually done by Choral Societies lining up with their local Junior Choirs.
